ACE for your FACE – Foods for Radiant Skin

Want a radiant skin? Read on…. You already know that many fruit and vegetables are good for you, your waist line and your health.  But did you also know that many specific nutrients are especially good to protect your skin, avoid sunburn or wrinkles, and keep a radiant glow?  Here are my top food picks for radiant skin!

Vitamins A, C and E

Regenerate cells & promote collagen formation.  I call these my ACE for your FACE regimen: alfalfa sprouts, almonds, avocados, bee pollen, broccoli, carrots, citrus, Goji berries, spinach.

H2O

If you are dehydrated, nutrients cannot be distributed to your organs, and your body cannot get rid of toxins efficiently.  You skin will become dull and subject to acne and pimples. You will also be more prone to sun burns.  The recommended amount is to drink 1/2 your body weight in oz of water per day.

Omega-3’s

Your doctor might not be writing you a prescription for salmon anytime soon, but eating a diet rich in omega-3 fatty acids – including fatty fish (think sardines, mackerel, salmon, halibut, cod) and walnuts – can reduce inflammation in your body making your skin less flush.

Safer Skin Care

Making sure the skin care line you are using is free of toxic chemicals should also be part of your care plan. You have heard me say that “food is not the enemy, chemicals put in the food are the enemies”, and that you should be mindful and careful about what you put IN your body. Well, the same is true for every product you choose to put ON your body!
