Organic Food May Offer ADHD Relief

Organic fruit and vegetables can be an important component in the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Many parents struggle to find ways to help their children find ADHD relief, and many others simply need a reprieve for themselves. Most doctors will rely on expensive medications that may or may not even work. Ultimately, many of these drugs end up causing more harmful side effects than helping. Plus, they mask the symptoms instead of treating them at their root.

Organic Fruits and Veggies – Nourishment for ADHD Relief

Pesticides used in conventional food production have been found to increase children’s risk of developing ADHD.  By choosing organic foods, you’ll also be avoiding artificial colors, flavors and preservatives, as well as GMO foods.  For ADHD relief, you should also choose organic, grass-fed meats and include healthy, organic fat sources such as flaxseed, avocados, wild-caught salmon and coconut oil.

If budget is an issue, focus on buying organic produce that is on the “Dirty Dozen” list put together every year by the Environmental Working Group.  These 12 items are the most sprayed with toxic chemicals:

  1. Apples
  2. Cherries
  3. Celery
  4. Cucumbers
  5. Grapes
  6. Lettuce
  7. Nectarines / Peaches
  8. Pears
  9. Potatoes
  10. Spinach
  11. Strawberries
  12. Tomatoes

You will also be able to find a list of the “Clean Fifteen”, which is a list of produce that has the least amount of pesticide residue, when tested, and is okay to purchase conventional instead of organic.
